Land Registry House Price Index

The Land Registry released the latest house price index on 29th April 2013.

Over the last year, London is reported to have experienced the highest annual increase in property values with an increase of 9.6 % while the North East experienced the greatest annual fall at 5.5%.

The average annual change is an increase of 0.9% and there has been an increase since March 2013 of 0.1% making the average property price in England and Wales as £161,793.00.

The report also shows that the average number of monthly property transactions has decreased over the last year from 56,445 sales to 54,810 sales.

The East Midlands is reported to have experienced an annual decrease in property values by 0.7% but there has been a monthly increase of 0.3% making the average price now £122,795.00.

Leicestershire is reported to have experienced an annual decrease of 0.1% but again a monthly increase of 0.1% making the average price now £145,586.00.

The number of repossession properties has also decreased in the East Midlands by 27% in the last year.

In general, it seems like local property prices are on the increase so, if you are a first time buyer, it seems that now is the time to buy!
